If you climb to the top of the Eiffel Tower to take a picture, then share it with your friends, how many of them would recognize it as Paris? I've been to Paris multiple times and never waited in the endless serpentine of tourists to take that photo. My favorite photo of the Eiffel Tower is from below.
At the base of the tower is a park and the Champs du Mars where Napoleon used to conduct military drill with his army. Now Parisians walk their dogs and French children run wild on playgrounds. My daughter isn't at the age where museums hold her attention yet, but she knows how to have fun anywhere. While visiting Paris, she managed to run out her energy with a very intense game of tag with children who didn't speak a word of English.
A game of tag is universal and the sand pit is base.
